Poh-kay

I woke up to snow this morning. Only a dusting, but its March 6th for Christ’s sake. Speaking of Christ, I am going to Hawai'i again soon. Thank you baby Jesus!

While this will be my 19th trip to Hawai’i, it will only be my second trip to Kaua’i. I have not been there since 2004. It will almost be brand new. Plus I am staying on the other side of the island this time, down in Po’ipu. Poh-ee-poo. Not Poy-Poo. Poh-ee-poo.

Seems like everything I go on a trip I start listening to local radio stations over the internet a few weeks before I go. Radio Nova in Paris, Icat radio in Barcelona. This morning I am listening to KKCR from Kaua’i. I haven’t really just sat and listened to Hawaiian music for a while. This is probably because most people I know cannot stand it. Not only can I stand it, I love it! I can feel my body relaxing after just a couple of songs. I’m relaxed right now!

Last night I saw on the website of a Honolulu TV station that they have been having torrential rains there lately. Hoh-noh-lu-lu.Some parts of Kauai have had over a foot of rain. As I listen to the radio station the host explains that he is the only one there. Roads are out and no one can get in to work so just he keeps playing a mix of Hawaiian music and Jimmy Buffett songs over and over. What a goofy island.

Right now I am remembering the chickens. And the waterfalls. And the shave ice. And the poke. Jesus, I cannot wait for this trip. Work has been very stressful, really since November. I have not been sleeping. Every morning my eyes pop open at 1:00 AM and I and unable to get back to sleep.

What I need is some anti-hell mouth aloha energy, 75 degrees, and some poke. I get ten whole says off work. First Class over and back, and we are renting a gorgeous house right on the water. Mahalo baby Jesus!
