As you know, I am an atheist. I know that God is a made up person like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

I do believe in Jesus. I have trouble with atheists who try to argue that Jesus didn’t exist. That just seems irrational and doesn’t really help with one’s credibility. It’s like arguing that Ronald Regan didn’t exist. One can hope, but it won’t change anything. Obviously Jesus was a crazy homeless person who wandered around the desert talking to himself, but that fact doesn’t negate his historical existence.
I quit believing in god when I was 14. That was a long time ago, back when the earth was created. Yes, there were dinosaurs walking around when I was a small child. Anyway, I think all people who believe in supernatural invisible things* are kind of stupid and wrong, but I don’t really belive that there should be national legislation against religion. I think it should be left up to the states. I don’t care if you are a Christian, a Jew, a Scientologist, a Buddhist, a Hindu, or frankly even a Mormon. I do a massive generalization and lump all of you people into a stereotype I call goo-heads.
Actually, you go do your thing, leave me alone, and I will quietly judge you but I will leave you alone too. That usually works. But then there is the presidential campaign this year. The non-stop and totally unchallenged coverage of the Republican fuckwits on NPR is impossible to avoid and very disturbing. It is! Sometimes it’s really hard to find a Pacifica station when you are stuck in traffic.
Santorum is the personification of the worst that America has to offer. No need to really talk about that shit here. Fortunately Newt is so evil and vile there is no way he will be the candidate. Romney is more interesting. Clearly a liar, evil, stupid, and a total fuckwit, but I am fascinated by the Mormon thing.
As much as I dislike all believers in unicorns, the Tooth Fairy, and other mythologies, I have always been uncomfortable with this idea that it is socially acceptable for Christians to make fun of Mormons in public settings. It happens all the time. Someone will just say something really horrible about Mormons without even stopping to think who can hear them. It’s so rude. It’s like having a blog and just writing what ever comes into your head and posting it on the internet.

I have known plenty of Mormons in my life and they seemed about as annoying as any other group of religious nut jobs, so why single them out? But then there was the whole gay marriage thing in California. Betty will explain if you do not remember this. Pretty easy to become a hater after that whole deal.

Everyone knows the reason Romney can’t get over 25% in the polls is because the hard core Republican / Fascist / Tea-Baging freaks won’t vote for a Mormon. Don’t you just love this? Please keep fighting boys. Make it as mean and nasty as you can. We’ll just keep watching the unemployment rate drop.

Why did I start this post again? Oh yes, Mormons. There are these Mormon billboards along the West Seattle Freeway.

So annoying. Please, there are no black, Asian, soccer playing, or motorcycle riding Mormons!!!

I am going to cash in my retirement savings and put up my own billboard:
