Barcelona on Tuesday

What is it with me, international travel, and global drama?

I was in England when the first case of bird flu was discovered and they had to kill thousands of chickens in the town of Cellar Dyke.

Then we were in Provence when the banking crisis hit and the global economy tanked.  That was so surreal.  Do you know that people scream on CNBC in Europe just like they do on CNBC here?

Then we were in Paris when that terrorist tried to start a fire on a flight headed to Detroit from Amsterdam.  It was so much fun being the first flight out of France back to America that next day.  It was!  I got body searched 9 times.

Did anything bad happen in Italy?   Roxanne was supposed to go buy wine and she didn’t.  And she yelled at me for making breakfast.  And she was pissed off during that Proper Lunch in Cortona, but what else is new.   We didn’t have TV, so that probably helped, but I certainly created enough drama with that drive down the ancient Roman ally in Pregio the middle of the night, with a stupid manual transmission car, but oh the tartufo!  So much drama over the tartufo.  Good drama.

I am going to Barcelona on Tuesday which of course means that the economy is going to collapse or terrorists are going to do something or that some Paltrow killing global pandemic is going to develop.

And right on time I see The Dow is down almost 400 points today. On the bright side I see the Euro is down to $1.34.  Wasn’t it like $1.67 in Italy?

I cannot wait.  I have been watching Barcelona TV online and listening to Barcelona radio for months. I have been cooking Catalan food since the start of summer.  I kind of forgot to learn some Catalan phrases, but I still have a few days.
Here is what I posted on Facebook today:

I LOL at myself!  It tickles!

I am hoping my ability to sort of read French and the fact that everyone in American now sort of reads Spanish will help me figure out some Catalan.

Anyway, I will post some more later, but for now I just want you to be super jealous that I am going to Barcelona on Tuesday…..
