Sunday night. Listening to Nic Harcourt on KCRW. It’s just started and he’s playing that Robby Roberston song from Until The End of The World. It’s the one at the end when Claire is in the Space Station looking down on earth. Thanks for making me cry Nic! God!
So let’s see, what is new?
Went to Oahu last weekend. We went for four reasons:
- It was Mark’s 45th college reunion again and he did not want to be in North America so that he would have a good excuse not to go.
- It was Michelle’s 45th birthday again and she was in Kauai anyway so decided to meet her in Honolulu for dinner at Nobu.
- We wanted to go back to Nobu.
- Honolulu is in Hawai’i.

You know #4 is not really fair. Honolulu is an amazing city and I would go there every year even if it were in North Dakota or Utah. Great great food, great restaurants, gorgeous people, amazing farmer’s markets, wonderful skyline. Plus Portuguese Sausage and beaches. It’s all good.
Here is some food porn from Nobu (sorry, photos are from my phone):
Oysters with a Japanese peach

Kampachi with chilis

I don't remember but this was but it was fucking wonderful

Wagyu Beef

Asparagus and Lobser (not my fav)

That clam on the right was vile, but the rest was great

Dessert

The next night Mark and I had our own little food porn at Roy’s. They tweaked the Butterfish recipe. Truly fucking amazing now.Mustard in the sauce I think.

Here are a couple other photos from Oahu:

What else is new? I am itchy to have my next trip booked. We talked about this in Honolulu and Barcelona kept bubbling up. Gueth what?
Yeth?
Yeth!
It lookths like we will go to Barthelona in Theptember. More details thoon.
Work is still good. Bosses are great and the Fresca never runs dry.
Finally got my ass in gear today and bought some plants and stuff for my backyard. Do you know that instead of paying $300 to have a giant Buddha head delivered to your home you can just buy one from some Mexicans on the side of the road?!?! All the Mexican Roadside Buddha stands these days take Visa so you can get Hawaiian Miles whilst buying Buddha heads.

I also got an owl in a desperate attempt to keep crows from eating my blueberries this year.

Owl and Buddha are not talking.
What else? My inside Buddha collection is growing.

As are the masks. I don’t think I have shown you the masks in a while. They are creeping onto the side walls.

This guy is is the newest addition.

Al righty. That is all that is new.
