Right when I found out Linda died last year KCRW was playing a song called “Is There Nothing We Could Do?” by a British group called Badly Drawn Boy. Actually Badly Drawn Boy is a person named Damon Gough, not a band, more of a one man band maybe, but not the kind like with a drum set strapped to his back and an accordion and a harmonica on a pole and a pet monkey playing cymbals…..but I digress.

Anyway, the timing of the song with Linda’s death was kind of weird but also pretty meaningful for me. The title is self explanatory, but more importantly there is a line that just floors me:
Oh I am sorry,
Oh I am sorry,
This page in your story won't turn
This page in your story won't turn
That pretty well sums things up. Except that I am still thinking about you. And I miss you.
Wow. Am I telling your story?
The song popped on this morning and of course I stopped what I was doing and just started crying. Sad crying for sure but also just nice to think about you. I wish I believed you were floating around out there.
Oh crap now I am putting on Copenhagen. Hadn’t really thought about that in the context of Linda. Here come the tears again.
But you, have disappeared
You have been released
You are flecks of light
You are missed
Somewhere, spinning round the sun
Circling the moon
Traveling through time
You are missed
.
