Travels

If you go to the Hawaiian Airlines web site and log in as me you will see two separate reservations. Maui in March and Oah'u in May. Yes, yes, I know I spent all last year whining that I could not afford to go on vacation ever again. I still can’t afford it, but Mark can and he is fronting the cash. That and some creative use of Hawaiian Air Miles will ensure that I make the two hour flight at least two times this year -- as is my birthright.

Actually I believe my birthright is three times a year. It is only January.

Two hour flight, you ask? Well obviously it only takes 2 hours to get there when you fly First Class. Sitting in the back takes six hours. If some asshole moves their seat back into your face it can take 10 hours.

I believe these will be Hawai'i trips #17 and #18 since August of 2001. There was a gap between #1 and #2 of two years, so really I will have gone to Hawaii 17 times since May of 2003. This averages out to 2.2157754 times per year since then. That just seems wrong. So wrong. Gotta get this average up somehow.

Michelle has been talking about Australia. I would love to go, especially to Melbourne, food capital of the world, but I just can’t see that happening any time soon. Business class is over $5000 and First Class is in the $6000 to $13,000 range. Even Mark can’t afford that. Did you know that if you fly coach to Australia in takes 9 days?

Speaking of Michelle, she just emailed to say she will bop over from Kaua'i in May to come have her birthday dinner with us at Nobu. Nobu is the only place on earth where I will eat oysters on purpose.

Anyway, while Australia seems very difficult I do have enough Air France miles to go back to Europe. Paris calls. But so do does Rome. And Barcelona. And the Basque County. And Venice. Even stupid London. Wishful thinking all of them I fear. A mini pop back to Hawai'i by the end of the year does not seem out of the question however. Sell some more stock Mark.

Oh forgot to mention that I learned the other day that Bev Gannon has been replaced as the chef for Hawaiian Airlines. I can’t really wrap my tongue brain around this. Why would they do such a hateful thing………. ……………………oh……….. sorry was out of body……… eating crab dip…….. …….. ……………….and sashimi napoleon….and mango margaritas……Hali'imaile is doing just fine thank you.

48 days and counting.
