I am in mourning.

My wine opener broke tonight.

It's little cork screw just finally gave out and broke off inside a cork. It was a bottle of Portuguese green wine. Vino Verde, a light, tart, naturally fizzy white wine that is low in alcohol. Perfect for the summertime!

I had that wine opener for years. I loved that wine opener. It kind of looked like a shrimp.

Jim Hunger gave it to me years ago as a groomsman’s gift. It opened over 4,000,000 bottles of wine.

How much has my life changed since I got that wine opener? I can’t even begin to quantify that.

I am really sad.

Is this a sign from God that I need to stop drinking once and for all?

No, I think it’s a sign that I need to buy a new wine opener so that I can drown my sorrows in some more Vino Verde.
